A calypso drumbeat runs throughout the 700 islands and 2400 cays of the Bahamas, where grabbing a conch salad and a beer from a beach-side eatery and soaking up the islands’ famous sunshine is the norm. Its offering of postcard-perfect beaches, friendly locals (including pigs), golf and water-based activities have long been a winning combination favoured by yacht charterers. That’s without even mentioning its iconic street parade, Junkanoo – a lively burst of colour and noise which parades through the streets every Boxing Day (26 December) and perhaps best typifies the unique Bahamas spirit. To plan your own Bahamian adventure, start by comparing all superyachts for charter in the Bahamas.

Myanmar (Burma)

With 1,300 miles of coastline and 700 plus of islands at your disposal, Myanmar is bursting with charter potential. To discount Myanmar as a cruising destination is to miss out on an enchanting visit to one of the world’s most unique countries. “This is Burma… it’s quite unlike any place you know about” once mused Rudyard Kipling, and with its mountainous landscape, dotted with gold-painted pagoda peaks and traditional, holistic way of life, it’s easy to see what he was talking about.

Days on your itinerary can range from burbling upriver in your tender to encounter secret ancient landmarks to an enthralling experience of the Mergui archipelago – both meeting the friendly Moken nomads onland, and the abundance of tropical marine life underwater. The latter has only been open publically since 1997, following 50 years of closure and should be at the top of any ‘must-do when in Myanamar’ list, despite government clearance being needed for charter yachts.
