Previously known as the explorer yacht LEGEND, the Soviet icebreaker that was later transformed into a luxury expedition yacht charter embarks on a new adventure as she prepares for a 2026 launch under the name of AQUA LARES.
Launched by IHC Verschure in 1974 and acquired by Aqua Expeditions, 253.11ft (77.4m) yacht charter AQUA LARES is the sixth addition of the company’s expanding portfolio of ocean-cruising yachts.
Differentiating herself from other Indian Ocean yacht charters, she will host a dual identity: being available both for private charter and as the company’s first ultra-luxury expedition yacht offering cabin-by-cabin bookings in the Seychelles and the wider region.
Carrying up to 30 charter guests across six decks, motor yacht charter AQUA LARES is designed to combine the exclusivity of a superyacht with the scale of a small luxury cruise.
Interiors, currently being refitted by Birgit Galli Zugaro in collaboration with Milan-based studio Hot Lab, will feature warm tones and pared-back sophistication, creating an intimate retreat for adventurous charter guests.
Accommodation includes three expansive owner’s suites alongside a range of well-appointed cabins, with every detail enhanced by a near 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio delivered by her 32-strong team.
Refreshed lifestyle spaces onboard yacht rental AQUA LARES will include a panoramic sundeck with a lounge and bar, a cinema and boutique, and versatile dining areas both inside and alfresco style.
Health and wellness are seamlessly woven into the layout too, with a pair of Jacuzzis, a spa and sauna, and a fully equipped gym.
Superyacht AQUA LARES is ready for practically every adventure one could possibly imagine, making her a thrilling explorer yacht to charter.

With Indian Ocean yacht charter itineraries spanning five to eleven nights, yacht rental AQUA LARES will invite those onboard to uncover some of the Indian Ocean’s most remarkable destinations.
Shorter voyages explore the inner islands in the charter routes of the Seychelles, such as Praslin and La Digue, while longer journeys stretch into Tanzania, Zanzibar, and the Aldabra Atoll.
Guests will be able to dive along the famed Astove Wall, often dubbed an “underwater Grand Canyon,” and trace ancient trade routes through culturally rich islands like Pemba.
Exploration continues at sea level, with yacht rental AQUA LARES carrying a fleet of Zodiacs and Rafnar tenders alongside paddleboards, kayaks, diving equipment, and even mountain bikes to extend the adventure ashore.
Other examples of toys kept onboard for invigorating watersports yacht charters include:
- Jet Skis and Water Skis
- Towable and Inflatable Toys
- Wakeboards and Seabobs
- And much more!
Offering an abundance of remote coves, spectacular beaches, and captivating reefs, charters in the Indian Ocean are truly special, with something for every charter guest to enjoy.
