114M Fuel-Cell Superyacht NAUSICAÄ Unveils New Name As She Undertakes Sea Trials

By Katie Scott   2 December 2025

Currently undertaking her sea trials in the Bay of Kiel, the distinctive 374.8ft (114.2m) superyacht NAUSICAÄ has unveiled her new name as she heads towards an anticipated delivery in 2026.

Previously known as Project COSMOS, superyacht NAUSICAÄ, the striking yacht is turning heads across the industry with her captivating futuristic aesthetics, and she sets a benchmark for the German shipyard as the first fuel-cell yacht to emerge from their facilities.

Following closely behind the multi-award-winning 389.9ft (118.8m) luxury yacht charter BREAKTHROUGH, who launched as the world's first hydrogen fuel-cell powered superyacht earlier this year, Lurssen continues to push boundaries in yacht design, proving just how far customisation can go when creating a luxury yacht that not only ticks all the boxes for their owner, but also showcases the steps being made for a greener yachting industry.

Superyacht NAUSICAÄ In The News

Currently unknown whether superyacht NAUSICAÄ will be destined for private use or joining the fleet of Lurssen yachts for charter at a later date, she has all the makings for truly exceptional voyages around some of the world's most enticing yacht charter destinations, thanks to her impressive range and Ice Class 1D rating that allows her to navigate light ice conditions.

With the prospect of being able to explore a range of terrains from the sun-kissed coastlines of a Caribbean yacht charter, through to the picturesque charter routes of Greenland, NAUSICAÄ will undoubtedly make a grand impression on all those who travel with her.

While it is true that, as a custom shipyard, no two yachts that leave our halls are ever the same, there are some that leave an indelible mark on our history. Cosmos (Nausicaä) is undoubtedly one of those yachts.

Aside from her distinctive exteriors, superyacht NAUSICAÄ boldly declares her place in the global fleet. She'll be launching straight into the YachtBuyer YB100 listing of the world's biggest yachts upon her delivery, where she would currently be sat at rank 34, adjacent to 344ft (104.85m) luxury yacht LADY MOURA.

As one of Lurssen's most complex builds in their 150-year history, NAUSICAÄ is the perfect embodiment of modern design and is further proof that the industry is collaboratively coming together to work towards net-zero targets, such as the Roadmap to Zero initiative by Feadship to launch carbon-neutral yachts and motor yacht charters by 2030.

In regard to charter capabilities, though it's largely unknown what is in store for superyacht NAUSICAÄ and her Japanese owner, there are plentiful top-tier amenities onboard that pave the way for unforgettable voyages.

The complete listing of facilities remains shrouded in mystery for the time being; however, so far, it is confirmed that there is a well-appointed swimming pool that sports incredible views, a certified helipad for stylish embarkations and adventures in destinations suitable for heli-skiing, a spacious swim platform, private fold-down balconies, and sweeping 360-degree panoramic vistas.
