Signalling her final farewell to the Lürssen headquarters with a modernised twist on a centuries-old maritime custom, 383.1ft (117m) superyacht BOARDWALK perfectly executed a full 360-degree turnaround and saluted the yard with her horn before embarking on her maiden voyage to Gibraltar.
Previously known as Project 13797, BOARDWALK has kept the industry guessing throughout her build by keeping her intimate details under wraps.
Offering a tiny sneak peek at her bow in the construction yard in 2024, around the same time that 400ft (122m) superyacht charter KISMET undertook further sea trials, she has remained mostly under cover until she launched in December 2025, and then emerged for her own sea trials during heavy fog in February 2026.
Largely rumoured to be the third successor in a lineage of three BOARDWALKs under the same owner, much like KISMET and her predecessors, 312ft (95m) charter yacht WHISPER and 242.9ft (74m) luxury yacht charter ATLAS, the new 117-meter BOARDWALK looks to be a step up from 251ft (76.5m) superyacht BOARDWALK V, who is now up for sale, and 163.1ft (49.71m) luxury yacht NIGHT HOWL, who originally launched in 2010.
With the owner keeping a tradition of their own with the same meaningful name being passed on between vessels, the final ceremonial farewell of BOARDWALK's departure in Blumenthal ties in well with old maritime practices.
The deliberate and choreographed full rotation in front of the shipyard is a historical seaman's mark of respect to all the team who spent the past few years building her, with the acoustic sound of her horn salute declaring the start of her next chapter.
Proudly showcasing her profile for all the world to see, BOARDWALK is not currently on the charter market; however, her striking silhouette and prowess give every essence of what a guest would expect from an opulent Lürssen yacht for charter.
Spanning six decks with a beautiful elongated bow, her design collaboration with Frank Woll Design presents a streamlined superyacht with bountiful exterior deck space that has all the makings for indulgent voyages around the popular charter routes of the Mediterranean.
Built for extended cruising, her onboard amenities have not been disclosed at this time; however, initial images clearly indicate dual helipads for stylish embarkations and exploring further afield. A well-appointed swimming pool adorns the stern with a built-in Jacuzzi, with another Jacuzzi seen higher up the decks, boasting exceptional views.
Elsewhere on board, the shipyard reports there is a putting green and a well-equipped gym, along with a generous swim platform, which teams up with a spacious beach club complete with fold-down waterside terraces, plus large stretches of windows for ample natural light and ventilation throughout the social areas.
Coming in with an estimated gross tonnage of 5,350 GT, BOARDWALK has launched comfortably into position 44 of the YachtBuyer YB100 listing of the world's biggest yachts, next to the former charter yacht 377.7ft (115.09m) superyacht AHPO.
Marking yet another launch that surpasses the 100-meter threshold, BOARDWALK is hot on the heels of 440.4ft (134.22m) superyacht DEEP BLUE and 374.8ft (114.2m) luxury yacht NAUSICAÄ, showing the continuing demand for larger yachts, both on and off the fleet of Mediterranean and Caribbean yacht charters.
Though not reaching the top 10 largest yachts produced by Lürssen, BOARDWALK makes a significant impact on the fleet with her legacy, and her insightful onward journey is sure to continue capturing the yachting industry's attention as she completes her first season on the waves.
It is yet unknown whether BOARDWALK will ever join the charter fleet; however, if you are looking to experience one of the largest yachts for charter, there are many options available with premium amenities, impressive toy boxes, and an abundance of destinations to explore.
