Iconic sailing yacht BLACK PEARL broadens her horizons as availability opens for Costa Rica yacht charters

One of the world's largest yachts available for charter, BLACK PEARL is currently in the shipyard in Montenegro, preparing for her Atlantic crossing.

Her arrival in Costa Rica will mark the first time the Oceanco charter yacht has offered charter vacations in the country.

Delivered in 2018, BLACK PEARL is a sailing yacht charter designed to give guests considerable freedom in how they spend their time onboard. Her DynaRig configuration allows sailing to be a central part of the experience, while her size provides an extensive choice of spaces for relaxing, dining, and entertaining.

Up to 12 guests can stay across seven cabins, with the composition including a master suite, two VIP cabins, a double, a twin, and two convertible cabins.

A 27-person crew provides exceptional service throughout the luxury yacht charter, while the yacht's large scale means guests can spread out across multiple indoor and outdoor areas.

BLACK PEARL's facilities also give yacht charter guests plenty to do when they are not exploring the coast. A dedicated movie theater, dance floor, and outdoor cinema provide options for evenings onboard, while a gym, sauna, and hammam offer spaces for maintaining a routine or unwinding after a day ashore.

One of the most distinctive features of BLACK PEARL is her outdoor cinema, with a 14m by 9m screen mounted on the mizzen mast. The beach club, meanwhile, can transition from a waterside retreat into a cinema space, creating different settings for spending time onboard as the day progresses.

After crossing the Atlantic, BLACK PEARL will arrive on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast for her first charter season in the country.

This side of Costa Rica offers a markedly different experience from the better-known Pacific cruising grounds, with a tropical coastline characterized by calm waters, reef systems, beaches, and rainforest.

The Caribbean coast boasts the port city of Limón, which provides an important gateway to the region, while destinations farther south include Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and the coastal communities around Cahuita.

Offshore, the area is known for its coral reefs and marine life, creating opportunities for snorkeling and diving on Central America yacht charters.

A Costa Rica yacht charter can be built around the country's distinctive coastal landscape rather than a succession of conventional resort stops. Cahuita National Park combines protected rainforest with a marine reserve, while farther south, the coastline around Puerto Viejo offers beaches, jungle, and a distinctly Caribbean character.

The region also provides opportunities to venture inland, with rainforest and wildlife forming a natural complement to time spent at sea. Charter yacht BLACK PEARL's move to Costa Rica follows the completion of her 2026 Mediterranean season and represents a new destination for the yacht rather than a continuation of an established Central American program.
