Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi
Since its highly acclaimed debut in 2009, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has become a leading event on the sporting calendar.
Crowds of more than 50,000 spectators descend onto Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, to witness the final race of the Formula 1 World Championship. Sponsored by Etihad Airways, the race takes place on the ground-breaking Yas Marina Circuit which was designed by renowned grand prix architect Hermann Tilke.
The 55 laps start as the Middle Eastern sun begins to set and ends in a beautifully illuminated blur of the world’s most spectacular supercars under the night sky.
The instant popularity of the F1 fixture has seen Yas Island become a hub of superyacht activity throughout the race weekend, attracting some of the world’s most impressive luxury yachts to Yas Marina.
The superyacht hub offers superb berthing options for vessels measuring up to 150 metres in length as well as a number of luxury facilities to make use of between the racing.
With 'track view' and 'non-track view' berths available, charterers are able to rent a superyacht and utilise it as an observation platform or a place to soak up the electric atmosphere when the race is underway. When the track-side action draws to a close, it can then serve as an idyllic sanctuary or luxurious party hub.
Renting a superyacht at the grand prix certainly opens up no end of ways to entertain a large group of friends as part of an event charter. But there is also the opportunity unique to Abu Dhabi to secure tickets to watch the action from a superyacht rented out by a private company alongside like-minded individuals.
The sporting event is also renowned for its after-race entertainment. Included in the ticket entry and marina passes is access to a series of post-race concerts at du Arena where world-class acts keep grand prix-goers entertained each night. Past performers include Prince and Beyoncé.
The city's best clubs also ramp up their nighttime offerings over the race week and a number of iconic pop-up nightclubs that follow the championship across the globe make Yas Island their home for the weekend. Among these is the legendary Amber Lounge.
