The Exumas Yacht Charters

Yacht charters around this region are spoiled for choice, with an array of paradisiacal islands and islets to choose from. Swathes of silken soft sands make for the perfect stop-off opportunity for a beach barbeque, while the clear turquoise waters teeming with every variety of tropical flora and fauna act as a siren call to snorkelers and scuba divers alike.

The islands also boast the protected Exumas Land and Sea Park, which incorporates a number of beautiful islets and cays to explore.

Yacht charter itineraries in the Exumas

With its central location and welcoming marina, Staniel Cay is the perfect starting point to kick off your Exumas yacht charter. The island is privately owned, however the marina is public, and a convenient place for the crew to stock up on charter supplies. We also recommend a visit to the Thunderball Grotto, an underwater cave populated by colourful fish that featured in the eponymous James Bond film, and has proved a veritable haven for intrepid divers ever since.

Afterwards, the choice is really up to you. Some highlights of this beautiful region include shark feeding in Compass Cay, where families of nurse sharks are so tame even the children can conquer their fear of these much-maligned predators. Also, Shroud Cay, located at the mouth of the Exumas Land and Sea Park, is renowned for its abundance of wildlife and indiginous flora and fauna, including myriad birds, crawfish (lobsters) and sea turtles.

The Exumas can also be incorporated into longer yacht charter vacations which set out from the Bahamian capital of Nassau. It is also a short hop across the sea to the much-loved island of Eleuthera, well-known for its pink sand beaches and line-up of fantastic restaurants and stylish nightspots, making the Exumas a convenient embarkation point for a number of popular Bahamas yacht charter itineraries.
