Guide to The Kimberley

Discover The True Spirit Of Australia

Nestled in the north west region of Australia by the Indian Ocean, Kimberley is the image of the continent. Aside from the world famous Australian landmark Sydney Opera House, most images you see of Australia are of tall, towering red rock formations and stunning, picturesque waterfalls. That, in a nutshell, is Kimberley.

The Australian outback is an incredible backdrop for a perfect charter holiday so why not make the most of it and explore the entire region?

As soon as you've anchored down head, straight to a jeep to go cross country over the red dirt tracks from Broome to the Dampier Peninsula. The stunning scenery and incredible wildlife watching over you from the skies is enough to keep you mesmerised for days, but keep moving on along the Gibb River Road for more incredible sights.

This 660 kilometre road is not for the faint hearted as you speed past the terrifying freshwater crocodiles in the Windjana Gorge National Park. Escaping their sharp teeth, brave the bush by walking through some of the staggering outback at the Lennard and Bell Gorges before taking a refreshing dip into one of the several rock pools in the area. Then for a breather from the road, jump on to a boat down the Chamberlain Gorge to see some great panoramic views of the surrounding area and some unique Wandjina rock art. Cool yourself down by making a pit stop at Mitchell falls to enjoy the full benefits of a waterfall shower.

After dashing around the outback it's time to see the landmarks of Kimberley. The 350 million year old World Heritage listed site of Purnululu National Park is a sight you will never forget. Even more incredible than anything you've seen already,  the age old rock formations of the Bungle Bungle Range tower above you leaving you looking like an ant in their greatness. The beehive like stripes running through the rocks makes for amazing photographs. Before leaving the area make another stop at Kununurra to see the vast stretching lakes with more ancient ridges and ranges, plus there's the small chance of finding some very rare pink diamonds.

Heading back towards your charter after an eventful trip around the Australian outback you can finally relax at Broome Cable Beach. With 22 kilometres of luscious white sand you can enjoy the rest of your day in peace before finishing the day with a beach camel ride at sunset.
