Yacht Charter Destinations Away From the Limelight

Yachts are fantastic hiding places for celebrities and the rich and famous from prying paparazzi. So where do they go to avoid the limelight?

Ok, so you may not be a Hollywood A-Lister, but we all like our privacy and some peace and quiet from time to time. These top five luxury yacht charter destinations are far out of the limelight and easy to access on a luxury charter yacht.

Corsica and Sardinia
The Mediterranean is a fantastic yacht charter destination to enjoy in the summer, but be careful to avoid those places, such as Ibiza and the Spanish Costas, that will be overflowing with tourists.

Fortunately, both Corsica and Sardinia are still mostly under the radar for most tourists and can guarantee peace and tranquility.

In Corsica, the cities of Porto Veccio, Bastia and Calvi deliver cosmopolitan glamour, but the island is also home to spectacular cruising grounds with secluded bays, dramatic coastlines, alabaster beaches and quaint fishing villages.

The South of France
It is important to plan your visit to the South of France carefully. In high season the coastline becomes overrun, much to the despair of the locals. It is better to wait until September, when the sun will still be warm but you will be able to find some sheltered bays.

The South of France is a popular area for some of the biggest names in Hollywood, from David Niven, Brigitte Bardot and Jack Nicholson to Leonardo DiCaprio. Sir Alex Ferguson has also been known to enjoy his summers here.

The places to moor your yacht are plentiful, but Monaco and Antibes are the best examples.

Enjoy lunch at the Cours Saleya in Nice, explore the historic town of St Paul de Vence and bask in the rose-tinted light of Eze. You can also take your charter yacht across the border to Italy and discover San Remo and Portofino.

Luxury yacht charter itineraries can begin at the north-eastern tip of the island where the town of St George’s is protected by the Castle Harbour with St David’s lighthouse.
