World’s Largest Yacht AZZAM Delivered

By Editorial Team   25 November 2013

German shipyard Lürssen have now confirmed the delivery of the 180m superyacht AZZAM to her new owner on the 22nd October 2013.

This revolutionary and extensive project has combined the expertise of the yachting industry’s leading designers, engineers and builders over the last three years, resulting in a spectacular luxury motor yacht that boasts speeds of up to 30 knots. Her principal was created by Eng. Mubarak Saad al Ahbabi with exterior design by Mario Pedol from Nauta Yachts and interior styling by renowned French designer Christophe Leoni.

AZZAM’s new owner will now take the title of the owner of the world’s largest superyacht from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich who has owned motor yacht ECLIPSE since her launch from Blohm + Voss in 2010. Though at 162.5m/533’, ECLIPSE is still the largest yacht available on the global charter fleet.

AZZAM recently completed her sea trials in the North Sea in September followed by changing her flag from German to that of the UAE, which is where her new owner is thought to be located. Not much information has been released regarding the build but in a statement issued to the media, Lürssen described the launch as an ‘enormous achievement’ and acknowledged the hard work and professionalism of everyone involved.
