Miami Yacht Show to re-locate in 2019

Events news

By Rebecca Bradbury  20 February 2018

This year’s edition of the Miami Yacht Show only drew to a close yesterday, but show organisers have already announced the luxury yachting exhibition will take place in 2019, pending permits, in a new location along Biscayne Bay close to downtown Miami.

Owned by Resorts World Miami, the prime waterfront spot comprises more than 14 acres and is strategically located between the Venetian and MacArthur causeways, next to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and Sea Isle Marina.

The move comes after the Miami Yacht Show’s 30th anniversary edition, which also marked a three-decade-long tenure along the Indian Creek Waterway.

The show’s product mix will continue to feature new and brokerage yachts. But its new home will provide a number of benefits, including more on-land exhibit space for luxury components such as exotic cars and private aircraft.

Ease of access and proximity to the Miami International Boat Show (MIBS), which takes place at the Miami Marine Stadium on Virginia Key, will also make it more convenient for attendees to visit both shows on the same day.

Furthermore, the new site is situated closer to Islands Garden Deep Harbour on Watson Island, where a secondary element of the show, known as Superyacht Miami, takes place. Water taxis will connect the two show locations, improving on the current overground transport arrangements.

Other advantages of the move include no depth or width restrictions for luxury yachts, a vastly increased parking capacity with approximately 3,500 spaces available and more room for VIP lounges and entertainment and dining options.

Andrew Doole, general manager of Informa, the Miami Yacht Show’s co-owner and producer, said: ‘This is a collaborative move that is designed to make Miami’s boat show week an easily accessible, interconnected system of events.

‘The show will be better positioned for growth with additional concession options, as well as benefit from the proximity to Islands Garden Deep Harbour for yachts up to 400 feet.’
