Latest Amels 60 embarks on sea trials

By Nina Done   9 June 2023

Representing the third hull in the Amels 60 series, following hot on the heels of sister ships COME TOGETHER and ENTOURAGE, the 60m (197ft) superyacht has ventured into open waters for the first time on her initial round of sea trials, designed to test her capabilities, equipment and safety features.

The 830 GT yacht's exterior design has been helmed by Espen Øino, with Damen Yachting responsible for her naval architecture. Key features include a near plumb bow, strong lines and signature geometric glazing. The yacht's interiors are the work of Winch Design and follow a contemporary theme.

Onboard highlights include a sprawling 162 square-meter sundeck featuring a Jacuzzi with a swim-jet function, plus a shaded dining area, full service kitchen and teppanyaki grill. This area can also be converted into an alfresco cinema for movie nights under the stars.

She's also equipped with a touch and go helipad that can be used as an additional sunbathing and lounging area or a vast dance floor for glamorous day-to-night parties.

The motor yacht provides accommodation for 12 guests across five suites, comprising an on-deck master stateroom with a full beam en suite, walk-in closet and wide 7m² balcony offering beautiful over-water vistas.

The remainder of her cabins are located at water level, with direct access to her beach club featuring a sauna, steam shower and adjacent swim platform.

In terms of technology, it is confirmed the yacht is fitted with the most advanced hybrid propulsion system supplied by Amels so far, reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, as well as protecting the lifespan of the generators and the main engines. In addition, vibration and noise are greatly reduced.

“This proven hybrid system currently offers the best solution to reduce harmful emissions, reduce noise and vibrations while benefiting from lower fuel and maintenance costs. It also allows you to cruise up to a certain speed without using the main engines, solely cruising on the generators,” says Joppe Osté, Project Manager at Damen Yachting.

Damen have confirmed this latest Amels 60 yacht will be ready by August 2023, in time for her new owner to enjoy the rest of the summer high season. In addition to the two already delivered, the yard has confirmed a further four Amels 60 series yachts are currently under construction.

Delivery is expected in the coming months, following the successful completion of sea trials. It is not expected that she will be available for charter once she’s delivered to her owner.
