Venice

2 - 12 Sep 2020

By Katia Damborsky

A celebration of the best in international cinema, the 77th annual Venice Film Festival will transform the city into a hive of culture and A-list attendees.

Held in the Italian city of Venice between 2 - 12 September, the Venice Film Festival is one of the most prestigious events in the film industry.

It’s also the longest-running event of its kind in history and aims to celebrate film in all facets; as art, entertainment and as an industry. Competing for prestigious accolades, the stars and directors of the latest blockbusters and independent films flock to the red carpets of Palazzo del Cinema for the awards ceremonies each year.

An international gathering of Hollywood heavyweights, the A-list elite and the SuperyachtSet

Every year, the festival is attended by Hollywood heavyweights, the A-list elite and the SuperyachtSet. Celebrities can often be seen walking the streets of Venice or soaking up the glamour at one of the after-show parties. What’s more, since the film screenings are open to the general public, it’s common for attendees to rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in cinema.

The event takes place at Venice Lido, an 11-kilometre long barrier island in the Venetian Lagoon. This year will see Cate Blanchett take on the role of President of the Jury, a high honour that will present the Golden Lion to the winning film.

Yachts are a regular fixture over the course of the festival, berthed at numerous piers and berths across Venice that provide easy and straightforward access to the city centre.

Expect glittering parties, buzzing venues and star-studded film screenings. The upbeat ambience is the perfect complement to any yacht charter vacation- get in touch with your preferred yacht charter broker now to book a yacht for the 2020 Venice Film Festival
