2016 will see a new look Newport Bucket Regatta come to Rhode Island's shores. With new local organisers rebranding the event - famous for its mix of friendly competition and social events - as the 'Candy Store Cup.'
Since 2002 the pristine waters of Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound have played host to the regatta, previously hosted by Newport Shipyard. The "Spirit of the Bucket" amongst the sailing yachts that compete is truly unique.
A celebration of friendly competition, racing takes place throughout the Newport Bucket Regatta, with ceremonies for winners and runners-up taking place daily. The overall winner of the regatta takes home the prestigious Bucket Trophy.
The atmosphere of the Newport Bucket Regatta is unrivalled amongst other yachting events. Spanning over 28 years, attendees particularly relish the fun and informal nature of the competition.
