postponed (Dates to be announced)
An iconic regatta event, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta will see a fleet of pedigree sailing yachts return to the waters of Porto Cervo.
For five days in June, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta will bring more fast-paced action and on-the-water thrills to the waters of the Costa Smeralda, off the northern coast of Sardinia.
Signalling the start of the Mediterranean yacht charter season, the prestigious Italian regatta combines an elegant setting at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) with friendly competition and an overarching spirit of camaraderie.
A selection of 20 luxury sailing yachts will be participating in the Superyacht Regatta, taking on a variety of challenging courses around La Maddalena archipelago.
They will be battling it out for the top spot in one of three unique divisions; Cruising, Performance, and Southern-Winds, the latter being specifically catered to yachts built by the South African shipyard.
With 50-plus courses available in this area, the race circuit will be announced on each day of the races according to the weather conditions - which are generally highly favourable in this pocket of Italy, with reasonable winds and perfect clarity.
Last year however, the regatta was keen to plan ahead incase a lack of winds hindered the sailing action. 2019 became the first year to introduce a five-day racing format, instead of the usual four.
It was also the first year to allow multihulls measuring over 50 feet to participate, and this new racing rule is expected to be rolled out for years to come.
As ever, the elegant clubhouse of YCCS will create the perfect backdrop to a rich shoreside social programme enlivened by cocktail soirees, yacht hops and awards ceremonies.
Those on a yacht charter in Porto Cervo will be able to watch from the sidelines, and can expect countless opportunities to take part in exclusive events, network with yachting professionals and enjoy the experience with the sailing community.
Plenty of seasoned skippers and sailing professionals will be participating in the Superyacht Regatta, but the event is also a great candidate for those looking to experience the unique joy of a regatta charter.
Spectators and participants alike can take advantage of the mesmerising setting of Sardinia, as the regatta truly shines the spotlight on the unrivalled beauty of this Italian island.
