Porto Cervo, Sardinia
3 - 8 Jun 2019
The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta will bring together a world-class fleet of sailing yachts and an exclusive programme of social events when it returns to the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) in Sardinia for its 12th edition in June 2019.
One of the most important events on the Mediterranean’s sailing calendar, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta will present four days of competitive racing against the beautiful backdrop of the La Maddalena island chain, located off the coast of Porto Cervo.
This area of Sardinia, known as the Costa Smeralda, offers stunning scenery and ideal sailing conditions: abundant wind, sunshine and 50-plus available race courses.
Rather than marker buoys, the small islands of the archipelago are used to set out the course, and the YCCS clubhouse in Porto Cervo, which is one of the most luxurious of its kind, offers a warm welcome to owners and competitors.
A diverse selection of contenders usually signs up for the event, ranging from performance-orientated superyachts to the more typical aluminum-hulled builds.
Last year’s edition saw the 40m/130ft sailing yacht ‘My Song’ triumph as the overall winner. Three-time winner, the 45m/148ft sailing yacht SAUDADE, however, had to drop out due to problems with her sails. Anticipation is high to see if SAUDADE will try and reclaim her title at the 2019 fixture.
A shore-side schedule of events will accompany the racing. Attendees can expect glittering gatherings at exclusive resorts and the YCCS clubhouse.
The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta presents a brilliant opportunity to undertake a regatta charter. Alternatively, it highlights the idyllic cruising grounds that can be discovered on an Italy yacht charter. For more information, contact your preferred charter broker.
