Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta 2019

Antigua Yacht Club, Antigua

17 - 23 Apr 2019

By Rebecca Bradbury

Sailors from across the world will gather for the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta 2019 to share their passion of sailing classic, vintage and traditional yachts.

Running in Antigua from 17 to 23 April, the 32nd Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta will bring together a magical combination of thrilling racing, laid-back Caribbean hospitality, brilliant sunshine and friendly camaraderie.

Owners and crews of classic and traditional yachts are encouraged to sail alongside each other on courses designed to be without the close quarters of other events. This makes the four days of racing fun and safe for hard-to-manage and older vessels.

Racing will take place off the south coast of Antigua and, although the courses won’t be known until the morning before each race, they will always take advantage of the wind, sea, scenery and skill levels.

There are six classes for yachts to compete in: traditional, vintage, classic, classic GPR, spirit of the tradition and tall ships. Last year saw a grand total of 30 yachts participate and this number is expected to be surpassed at the upcoming edition.

A welcome party at the Antigua Yacht Club will begin proceedings on the evening of 17 April with the classic single-handed race to follow the next day. Four days of regatta racing will then commence complemented by some vibrant social events, including a prize-giving ceremony.

It is possible to be part of the event by undertaking a regatta charter. For further details, get in touch with your preferred charter broker.
