Guide to Bequia

A little gem found in the Caribbean

Bequia is the largest of the Grenadines, a chain of picturesque islands that are situated in a curved line between St. Vincent and Grenada. With a multitude of near-deserted beaches to explore as well as an array of charming restaurants to dine in, you are sure to enjoy the infectious, laid back atmosphere of this cool little Caribbean island.

Those enjoying a superyacht charter vacation can expect prime access to some of the most remote beaches and coves the island has to offer. Sailing to the west side of the isle you can find Princess Margaret Beach. Named after the British princess who stopped off here for a dip in the 1950’s, the water here is incredibly blue, clear and calm and is paired with a beautiful crescent shore which is backed by a palm tree forest, giving the area a tropical Caribbean feel. After a morning of swimming and soaking up the sunshine, spend the rest of the day putting your feet up in one of the bars that line the beachfront. The cocktails on the island are renowned to be highly refreshing, bursting with fruity Caribbean flavors.

For those wanting to explore the ocean life down below, be sure to visit Admiralty Bay where you can dive down and swim around old wrecks that have rested on the ocean floor for decades. Devil’s Table is also a fabulous area for diving and snorkeling, with vibrant corals, colorful fish, moray eels and even the occasional Seahorse.

Those chartering a superyacht often enjoy having the option to come inland to try some of the divine local cuisine that the island has on offer. You won't be disappointed with Bequia's options, make sure to head over to the east coast, Firefly Plantation Restaurant and Bagatelle at the Bequia Beach Hotel offer more upscale dining, with grilled local fish, steaks and curried conch on the menu.

Bequia’s main town, Port Elizabeth is no more than twenty minutes drive from anywhere on the island and home to a beautiful harbor, charming shops and beautiful walkways offering everything from luscious tropical fruits to locally crafted jewelry and toy boats carved from coconuts.
