Review of 82m charter yacht popular with large groups & corporates
A charter on board O’MEGA offers every conceivable comfort and functionality for the most comprehensive of cruising vacations. Her exceptional volume and amenities rival that of any luxury retreat and are imbued with an ambience of refined grandeur and classical elegance that can only be found on a superyacht of this calibre.
The luxury charter yacht O’MEGA began life in 1985 as a small cruise ship before undergoing a multi-million Euro conversion project that has seen her become one of the largest and most luxurious yachts in the global charter fleet.
At an impressive 82.5m (270’6), she is among a handful of superyachts allowed to cruise with more than 12 guests, capable of accommodating up to 30 charter guests who are welcomed aboard to a world of true indulgence and comfort. This is becuase she was built to commercial specifications and is SOLAS certified.
Originally built in Japan in 1985 by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries she was converted into a superyacht over a two year period in 2002 and 2003 at the Guangzhou Shipyard International Company in China to a new design by Georgio Vafiadis. This radical rebuild included remodelling to the bow and superstructure, completely removing the main deck level and replacing it with a new one in aluminium alloy in order to accommodate the high quality staterooms and saloon. More recently in 2011 she underwent another major re-fit andalong with other work her hull colour was changed from navy blue to white.
..capable of accommodating up to 30 charter guests who are welcomed aboard to a world of true indulgence and comfort.
The results represent the highest possible standards of yachting and a vessel meticulously designed for charter vacations. The huge volume of O’MEGA’s interior and exterior has been combined with modern amenities and classically elegant design features while still taking advantage of the excellent naval architecture of her Japanese builders to offer outstanding seakeeping performance, even in heavy seas.
Another benefit of the volume offered with a charter yacht like O’MEGA is the vastness of her outdoor recreational areas and an abundance of amenities, each exhibited in sleek, modern and spacious style.
Her main deck represents a collection of areas dedicated to all manner of relaxation, entertainment and comfort. Each flowing seamlessly into the nest, her main saloon leads through sliding doors out on to the exterior main aft deck that houses a covered seating and conversational area comprising of sofas grouped around tables.
Situated on this level is the spectacular main saloon which offers a sumptuous and versatile space for all guests to enjoy together, whether relaxing on deluxe sofas or enjoying a game of chess. A timeless style is achieved with soft cream and brown hues enlivened with subtle touches of gold a selection of fine fabrics to include pieces from the Rubelli, Lelievre and Scardigli, among others.
This then leads on to the formal dining area which offers an atmosphere reminiscent of a fine dining restaurant, in keeping with O’MEGA’s reputation for world-class cuisine served by three top chefs in the ultra-modern galley. The four circular tables each seat eight guests and can be joined with special leaves to form two rectangular tables, each with an 18-seat capacity.
Continuing the theme of magnificence on board, the staterooms each feature beautiful en suites finished with the finest white and yellow Onyx fixtures along with the latest entertainment systems, flat screen televisions, sound systems and WiFi.
Access to her six deck levels is via her large marble floored foyer which draws guests into an expanse of opulence, showcased in style by a magnificent staircase.
