Immerse Yourself in the Rhythm and Revolution of the Cuban Capital

11th November 2015

As dusk falls, a classic American car is seen parked up alongside a street lined with colourful Spanish architecture in a photograph that epitomises the Cuban capital city, Havana.

A historic sea port, Havana pulsates with African and Caribbean rhythms as Baroque facades, columned palaces and lush patios point to Cuba’s colonial past. On the verge of change, these once-elegant buildings are slowly returning to their former glory with the main plazas of Habana Vieja already undergoing gentrification.

Cuba’s tourism is also on the verge of transformation as the country re-established its diplomatic ties with the United States earlier this year. This resulted in the first US yacht chater in 50 years to enter Cuban waters.

As well as rickety 1950 Chevrolets crisscrossing the streets, artisanal boutiques, trendy bars, art deco theatres and museums are also in abundance, and visitors cannot fail to be captivated by the city’s old-style charm.

Start your Cuban adventure in Havana before exploring the country’s breath-taking coastline on your luxury yacht charter. Against a diverse backdrop of panoramic plains and mountain ranges, discover swathes of golden sand, idyllic offshore islands, a wealth of coral reefs and the stunning archipelago of Cayo Largo.
