Thailand re-opens borders for yacht charters from 1 March 2022

By Nina Done   1 March 2022

In a recent announcement, Thailand is now welcoming fully-vaccinated visitors to its shores who hold a Thailand Pass under the TEST & GO entry scheme.

The Land of Smiles has reinstated its quarantine-waiver scheme meaning fully-vaccinated visitors can now apply for a Thailand Pass, with further relaxation to their entry requirements, as outlined below;

  • Certificate of vaccination, or medical certificate indicating a positive result not less than 14 days, and no more than 90 days, prior to departure
  • Prepaid accommodation for a hotel stay reduced to one night only (for those arriving by yacht, a stay aboard is sufficient)
  • A negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure
  • An additional PCR test on arrival, with a further ATK Self test administered on day 5-6

In addition, visitors should also have medical insurance with a minimum coverage of USD 20,000.

Children between 12-17 years may enter with one vaccine dose. Any unvaccinated children under 18 years of age must register and travel with their parent or legal guardian.

Please note that the current processing time for a Thailand Pass is 3-7 days, therefore we strongly advise you to plan ahead and submit the registration at least 7 days prior to departure.

If you’d like to learn more about any of these changes, or chartering in the region in general, please contact a recommended yacht charter broker who will be best placed to advise you further.

Yacht rentals in Thailand

Thailand yacht charters tend to commence at Phuket’s home port of Ao Po Grand Marina, a truly modern facility well-suited to larger superyachts with easy access to all the best yacht charter destinations in Thailand.

One of the region's most popular destinations are the Phi Phi Islands – a stone's throw from Phuket – boasting some of the most iconic beaches in the region, fringed by clear emerald waters and set against a backdrop of monolithic limestone rocks that rise majestically up from the sea.
