Superyachts head to Thailand for Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous 2018

By Katia Damborsky   30 November 2018

With a glittering social programme and a superb line-up of luxury yachts on display, the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous 2018 will be kicking off in one week’s time in Thailand.

Marking the start of the South East Asia yachting season, the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (KRSR) will be bringing together a fantastic variety of superyachts alongside an impressive social schedule when it gets underway next week.

The invitation-only event will see superyacht owners and key players in the industry flock to the island of Phuket, for four days of touring yachts, networking with show-goers and being entertained by the range of festivities on the agenda.

Held at the Kata Rocks resort and private residence, staff and friends of the venue will be in attendance at the event as well. Here’s what you can expect from the KRSR 2018 when it opens its doors on December 4.

Day 1

The event will kick off with a look around the superyachts on display. Sure to draw in plenty of attention will be the 34m/112ft motor yacht ‘Azul A’ from Moonen shipyards.

The Dutch-built luxury yacht has plenty of experience traversing around the blissful region of South East Asia on private yacht charters, and her sophisticated interiors and contemporary amenities are set to wow anyone who steps on board.

Winding down the day, a cocktail party will be hosted on the roof of Kata Rocks from 6pm. Guests can expect stunning views over the marina and the sparkling sea, coupled with the glamorous surrounds of the pool and elegant interiors of the venue. The party will be followed by a private Captain’s Dinner presented by Benetti at 8pm.

Day 2

Coinciding with the King’s Cup Regatta, day 2 will see races begin at 10:30 am. Owners, media partners and guests are invited to watch the regatta on board various yachts in attendance, providing them the unique opportunity to watch the action unfold.

At the same time, those who are in the mood to be pampered can forego the regatta, and instead indulge in one of the spa treatments offered by Kata Rocks. Show-goers can enjoy massages or yoga sessions at the resort's semi-alfresco health and wellness facilities, all while soaking up the idyllic setting of the venue.

With appetites thoroughly whetted, a Thai cooking class is next on the agenda, with the experience of a master chef at the helm. Learn how to whip up signature Asian dishes with fresh ingredients and inspired twists, and leave the class feeling like a pro.

The event spans four days of touring yachts, networking with show-goers and being entertained by the range of festivities on the agenda.

The afternoon can then be spent browsing other superyachts on show. The 33m/108ft luxury yacht NYMPHAEA will be enticing plenty of attendees with her distinctive profile and striking midnight-blue hull.

Anyone who tours her will find she has vast amounts of outdoor deck and well-appointed salon with adjoining bar, leaving her perfectly primed for prospective charter guests.

The evening will close with the official opening reception of Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous 2018, which will follow themes of the unique Peranakan culture and the Sino-Portuguese heritage of old Phuket Town.

Day 3

At 9:30, guests are invited on a cruise which will take them along the coast for a private beach barbecue. One of the highlights of the four-day event, attendees can expect to sample delicious food and mouthwatering drinks on Pansea Beach, surrounded by palm trees and overlooking ivory-sand beaches.

Once back at the show location, guests will have plenty of time to see one of the most impressive yachts on the KRSR line-up.

The 30m/100ft sailing yacht DALLINGHOO combines a classic design with modern features, with Burmese wood furnishings and a traditional Schooner-style build. Her eye-catching exterior has made her a highly-sought after-charter option around Thailand and now show-goers will have the opportunity to step on board for themselves.

Putting on a show in the evening, Oceanco will be hosting an exclusive dinner for superyacht owners in one of Kata Rocks’ penthouse suites.

Day 4

VIP guests and media partners are invited to a champagne brunch on the final day of festivities. This is followed by another opportunity to experience Kata Rocks’ various spa treatments, for anyone who missed out while participating in the regatta on Day 2.

From 1pm, ‘Big Boy Toys’ will take place, which will see exhibitors demonstrating and trialling a selection of marine toys. Expect thrills and fast-paced action from a range of water accessories and gadgets.

The grand finale party will include a live band, DJ sets, gourmet food and premium drinks, and will extend into the night.

After setting the tone for an afternoon of fun, a Yacht Hop will kick off between 2 - 4pm, where guests are invited to board the variety of other superyachts on the line-up. During this event, guests should expect professional media photography of the yachts to be taking place, with drones buzzing in the sky overhead.

As the final day comes to an end, Kata Rocks will be putting on their Charter Season Opening Party. Embodying a ‘Journey to the Med’ theme, the grand finale party will include a live band, DJ sets, gourmet food and premium drinks, and will extend into the night, ensuring the 2018 edition of the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous goes out with a bang.
