The stunning South Pacific charter destination of Tahiti is fast becoming one of the world’s most popular up and coming luxury superyacht destinations and this latest announcement is sure to further its appeal to clients. The French Polynesia charter regulation was first put in place in 1995 and simplified in 2004, with over a hundred large yachts applying for a license since then. The license is granted to yachts with a value exceeding 1 million USD, with a charter rate over USD 15,500 and minimum crew of three.
Etienne Boutin stated in his announcement: “We hope this change will help more guests decide on our islands as their next charter destination and enjoy the French Polynesia preserved marine environment and fun land based activities. This drop of the charter tax, combined with the recent extension of yacht’s allowed ‘Duty Free Stay’ to 36 months, is also a great opportunity for yacht owners in the Asia Pacific region and further afield to base their yacht in Tahiti”
With a scattering of idyllic islands surrounded by some of the most marine life-rich waters in the world, a Tahiti luxury yacht charter vacation is the perfect way to explore the beautiful Society Islands and beyond. From sailing yachts and luxury catamarans to the finest motor yachts, there are now an array of superyachts available for charter in Tahiti, such as the 56m/184ft ‘Mondango 3’ and the 49m/161ft ‘Ohana’.
