Norway Keen to Attract More Superyachts

Giant cruise ships have visited the coast of Norway for centuries, but now a group of prominent Norwegians have begun a project to attract more superyachts to the land of the midnight sun.

A group of Norwegians, includung ex-politician and Member of Parliament Magnus Stangeland, have initiated a project to draw in more superyacht owners and their vessels to the country. The group gathered together for a meeting last week for the project, which has been dubbed "Norway á la carte for Superyacts." At the meeting, Magnus Stangeland met with numerous people, including fishing magnate Inge Halstensen and cruise consultant Ola Hiis Bergh, as well as representatives from the local county.

200 million has already been invested to upgrade the port facility at Bekkjarvik and investigations are currently being made as to which ports may be suitable to cope with the arrival of these new yachts.

Numerous superyachts have frequented the area in recent years, some venturing as far as Lofoten and Svalbard and the scheme has been welcomed by many who are keen to capitalise on this.

We have room for... superyacht owners who want more... than hot summers and crowded harbours.
