MYBA Charter Show 2018 prepares for 30th anniversary edition

By Rebecca Bradbury   16 April 2018

The MYBA Charter Show will mark three decades of existence with glittering superyacht displays, a chefs' competition and glamorous parties when it gets underway next week from Monday 23 to Thursday 26 April in the OneOcean Port Vell in Barcelona, Spain.

An industry-only event, the MYBA Charter Show will, as always, bring together some of the world’s leading luxury charter professionals and provide them with the chance to appraise some of the finest yachts on the charter market, as well as meet the captains and crews and explore an exceptional range of ancillary services.

There will also be an enlightening seminar programme and a vibrant social calendar for unrivalled networking opportunities. Plus, superyacht chefs will be called on to showcase their talent and create five different finger foods in the highly-anticipated chefs’ competition.

The highlight of the show will no doubt be the 55 charter yachts lined up in the marina. Leading the way in both size and status will be the 81m/266ft motor yacht ‘Alfa Nero’, an incredibly iconic offering from Oceanco with unforgettable exterior styling and an exceptional Alberto Pinto interior.

Another icon making an appearance will be one of the most impressive expedition yachts on the charter market, the 77m/254ft superyacht LEGEND. In contrast, she will be joined by a brand new go-anywhere explorer, the 73m/240ft superyacht ‘Planet Nine’ from Admiral Yachts.

Other new-for-charter yachts at the show will include the 71m/233ft classic yacht ‘Haida 1929’. First launched in 1929, she underwent an extensive refit in 2016 in time for the upcoming charter season, while Heesen’s award-winning 51m/167ft motor yacht MYSKY is another newbie.

Industry professionals will be particularly keen to check out what these have to offer their charter clients. But, the top must-see yacht is expected to be the 70m/230ft superyacht JOY thanks to her Feadship pedigree, innovative features and dreamy interior styling from Studio Indigo.

After a day of yacht viewings, attendees are invited to a number of social events, including a quay party, cocktail evening and yacht hop. Morning seminars, meanwhile, will take a look at destinations and ‘engaging millennials’ and the chefs’ competition prize-giving ceremony will round up proceedings.

Organised by MYBA (the Worldwide Yachting Association), the show returns to Barcelona for the second year in a row following 28 successful editions in Italy. Be sure to check back on YachtCharterFleet over the next few weeks for the latest show updates from Spain.
