Lurssen sign deal for 54m superyacht 'Moon Sand' at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018

By Emma Louise Ford   26 September 2018

German shipyard Lurssen has announced it has signed a contract for Project 13800, a 54m/177ft motor yacht named superyacht 'Moon Sand' scheduled for delivery in spring 2021.

The new project is for an experienced owner from Asia and will have a modern exterior and interior design created by Bannenberg & Rowell. The exterior profile will be ‘masculine but elegant’ and outdoor space across the four decks will be maximised to offer a variety of entertainment areas.

Renderings reveal luxury yacht Moon Sand will have an expansive aft deck with a large pool and a variety of social areas. The upper deck aft will be dedicated to al fresco dining while the sundeck is expected to be equipped with places to lounge and a bar.

Not much is known yet about the interior. The only details to be revealed so far is that custom furniture will be provided by USA-based firm Pollaro.

The project also marks the first time renowned UK design firm Bannenberg & Rowell have worked with Lurssen on an interior and exterior collaboration since the 73m/238ft charter yacht 'Coral Ocean' in 1994.

Renowned for larger superyachts, Lurssen does also have a considerable number of smaller vessels and if sources are correct we may see many more Lurssen yachts between the 50 and 60 metre range produced whilst they continue to work on bigger custom built yachts.
