Exclusive: 135m Lurssen superyacht CRESCENT (ex-Project Thunder) delivered

By Rebecca Bradbury   11 September 2018

German shipyard Lurssen has delivered the highly secretive 135m/444ft Project Thunder which, according to the yacht’s AIS transponder, is now known as superyacht CRESCENT.

CRESCENT first hit the water back in June 2017 when she underwent her first round of sea trials. Now, over a year later, she has left the yard’s facilities in Bremerhaven and is on her maiden voyage to Kristiansand, a popular superyacht delivery destination in Norway.

Measuring 135 metres, she will occupy the 15th position in the world's Top 100 Largest Yachts and will be one of seven Lurssen superyachts to feature in the top 15.

The German yard has done another stellar job of keeping details about their new build firmly under wraps. Among the few details released is that long-term collaborator Espen Oeino is behind the exterior styling while the interior design has been headed up by Zuretti.

All that is known about the interior so far is that it is ‘traditionally styled’, as confirmed by the shipyard, and she is also reported to boast a multi-level atrium with full-height windows.

Photos of luxury yacht CRESCENT underway, however, reveal some of her exterior features. Her eye-catching silver superstructure and jet black hull and masculine lines are unmissable, but two helipads can be spotted, with the one on the upper deck aft featuring its own retractable hangar.

A large swimming pool on the aft deck can also be seen and, with her generous proportions, she is expected to boast a huge array of other entertainment and leisure facilities across the interior and exterior of her five decks. This is alongside a wealth of areas in which to dine, socialise and relax.

M/Y CRESCENT, according to Lurssen, will be predominantly based in Asia.

She is not expected to be available for charter, but for more details on chartering a Lurssen yacht, speak to your preferred charter broker.
