A look ahead to the Monaco Yacht Show 2018

By Katia Damborsky   18 September 2018

Returning to Port Hercules between 26 and 29 September, the 28th edition of the Monaco Yacht Show is set to impress, with a superb selection of superyachts confirming their attendance at the prestigious event.

Renowned as the superyacht capital of the world, Monaco will once again be showcasing the finest in luxury yachting at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018. This year, the event will see 120 magnificent yachts flock to Port Hercules, alongside 580 exhibitors ranging from yacht builders to luxury goods suppliers.

For four days, the harbour will be a buzzing hive of activity that’s sure to dazzle industry professionals and show-goers alike, with several superyachts making their global debuts.

This year’s new layout promises a seamless experience for show-attendees, with the restructured Quai des Etats-Unis now hosting yacht designers, shipyards and brokerage houses alongside the yachts they represent. Nautical suppliers providing services, including maintenance, repairs and insurance, will now exhibit in the Darse Sud tent and on Quai Albert 1er, leaving the Parvis Piscine dedicated to luxury goods. Here, suppliers will present products ranging from exquisitely-crafted jewellery to serving plates rimmed with gold.

After its successful launch last year, the Tenders & Toys zone will be making a comeback to the Quai Jarlan and extending along Quai Antoine 1er. Guests can expect to see the latest state-of-the-art toys being demonstrated, as well as technologically-advanced tenders and helicopters on show.

In keeping with the theme of elite luxury, private jet manufacturers and pedigree cars will also be on display at the event. The tailor-made vehicles and customized models will be displayed in the Car Deck.

The Monaco Yacht Show will be kicking off on Wednesday 26 September with an inaugural ceremony where the winners of the Monaco Yacht Show Awards will be announced. Around 45 superyachts are expected to be making their hotly-anticipated premieres at the event.

The 89m/291ft megayacht ‘Illusion Plus’ is one of them, currently undertaking her maiden voyage from her shipyard in China to the French Riviera in time for the event. She ranks first for the largest yacht measured by gross tonnage at this year's show - you can view our round-up of the top five largest superyachts by gross tonnage at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018.

Alternatively, take a look at our article on the top five largest superyachts by length at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018. In terms of length, it’s Lurssen’s 95m/312ft motor yacht KISMET that steals the show, owing in part to her spiked hull.

Other yachts making their global debuts include Turquoise’s freshly launched 77m/253ft motor yacht GO, the largest yacht ever built by the Turkish shipyard. She is instantly recognisable thanks to her bright aquamarine exterior and will be a sight to behold at the Monaco Yacht Show this year. Joining her as a new launch is the 90m/295ft superyacht DAR, which recently scooped up the top award in Cannes at the Yachting Festival, thanks to her innovative design by Oceanco.
