The 5 largest yachts by length at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018

By Rebecca Bradbury   5 September 2018

The yachting industry will turn its attention exclusively to the Monaco Yacht Show later this month, and as the event is renowned for displaying the world’s biggest superyachts, YachtCharterFleet rounds up the five largest in attendance.

Running in Monaco from 26 to 29 September, the iconic yachting meet will showcase 125 magnificent superyachts, ranging from the latest launches to some of the most popular on the charter market. Below, in ascending order in terms of length, are the largest yachts on the line-up.

#5 Barbara - 88m Oceanco

Delivered in early 2017, the 88m/290ft superyacht BARBARA is a fantastic addition to the charter market and, having never attended a yachting show before, she will be one of the must-see yachts at MYS 2018.

The voluminous Oceanco yacht stands out for a number of reasons, one of which is her distinctive yet timeless design from Sam Sorgiovanni with its organic, fluid shapes, oval portholes and curves. The exterior, as well as the yacht as a whole, also boasts an eye-catching amount of glazing.

Other unique elements include an aquarium, a stunning timber and metal sculpture which winds its way up the central staircase, a main salon that converts into a party space thanks to lighting hidden in the ceiling and two cinemas, one of which is located on the lower deck while the other can be set up on the sundeck.

#4 Illusion Plus - 89m Pride Mega Yachts

Making her way to Monaco all the way from China, the 89m/291ft luxury yacht ‘Illusion Plus’ will receive an extremely warm welcome when she arrives in Port Hercules. Delivered just last month, she will be making her worldwide debut at the show and is expected to be a major talking point.

Built by Chinese shipyard Pride Mega Yachts, she is the largest private motor yacht to be constructed in Asia with British studio Rainsford Saunders Design responsible for the Rolls-Royce-inspired exterior lines.

The spacious interior, meanwhile, comes from Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design. Those lucky enough to step aboard at the show can expect to see a double-height atrium with a cinema screen and comfortable seating as well as a dedicated spa with a sauna, steam room and massage room.

#3 Dar - 90m Oceanco

One of the most highly anticipated launches of the year so far has been the 90m/295ft motor yacht DAR. As many finer details of the yacht, which left the Oceanco yard in July, are yet to be revealed, she is expected to be an extremely popular yacht at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show.

Much of the excitement that surrounds the superyacht stems from her ground-breaking design and technological advances. Her superstructure is completely finished in reflective glass and she is the first yacht in the Netherlands to be given the official Lloyd’s Register IBS notation and designation.

Behind the exterior styling is DeBasto Design while Nuvolari Lenard headed up the interior design based on the main theme of ‘nature’. She has also been created with an emphasis on maximising opportunities for outdoor living and to have direct contact with the marine environment.

#2 Aquarius - 92m Feadship

The last of the five largest yachts to confirm her attendance at MYS 2018 is the 92m/302ft motor yacht AQUARIUS. Delivered in late 2016, she is no stranger to the show after making her first appearance last year.

Presented to the industry, the superyacht was met with much acclaim and she is expected to have a similar effect when she returns to Monaco this September. She is, after all, the result of a collaboration between top shipyard Feadship and renowned design studio Sinot Yacht Design.

Among her key features are a 6.5-metre aft deck swimming pool, which can be transformed into a dance floor, the largest main salon ever built by the Dutch yard and an owner’s deck complete with an observation terrace and media lounge and a massage room.

#1 Kismet - 95m Lurssen

At 95m/312ft, charter yacht KISMET heads up the leaderboard for the largest yachts attending the Monaco Yacht Show 2018. Built by Lurssen back in 2014, she remains at the top of her game on the charter scene after hosting notable charter guests Beyoncé and Jay Z this summer.

This year will be the first time the award-winning yacht has appeared at the Monaco event and, with her stellar reputation, will no doubt attract much attention from show-goers.

Stand-out features include space to host 270 at parties, luxurious spa facilities, a huge swimming pool, two helipads - one of which is marked for half-court basketball - and a dramatic art deco-inspired interior from Reymond Langton which includes a multi-storey video wall, four fireplaces and a breath-taking atrium.
