While the tropical waters of the Caribbean remain open to yacht-goers, organizers of the Antigua Charter Show have made the difficult decision to cancel the show this year as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent travel restrictions.
Another boat show bites the dust, as organizers of the industry-exclusive Antigua Charter Show made the call to cancel earlier this week. The decision was made in the best interests of all attendees' health and safety.
Looking forward to the future, plans are already underway to celebrate the show's 60th edition in style next year, with special changes being rolled out for crew and brokers alike. The show will be held next year between December 4 - 9 2021.
The Antigua Charter Show is one of the industry's leading trade-only events, with a great fleet of yachts in attendance for brokers to browse. As well as the superyacht line-up, there is invariably a sparkling social scene and plenty of opportunities for brokers to familiarize themselves with the yachts and their crew.
Plans are already underway to celebrate the show's 60th edition next year, with special changes being rolled out for crew and brokers alike.
In spite of the cancellation, Antigua and neighbouring Barbuda continue to welcome yachts with special COVID safety measures in place.
There is also a travel corridor which facilities free movement between the islands of Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia, St Kitts, Dominica, Monserrat, Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
According to sources on the ground in Antigua, there have been no issues reported with yachts entering into Antigua and other Caribbean islands.
There is also a travel corridor which facilities free movement between a number of Caribbean islands.
