Sydney, Australia

24 May - 15 Jun 2019

By Rebecca Bradbury

Vivid Sydney, the multi-award winning festival of light, music and ideas, will return to illuminate the popular Australian city for the 11th time in May and June.

Australia’s annual 23-day festival has become an unmissable event for locals and tourists alike. Since its inception, it has grown to encompass music, talks and ideas, but one of its original features – the impressive light installations around key sites in the city – remains its biggest draw.

The 2018 edition will get underway when a ‘lights on’ moment transforms several iconic buildings, including the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, into moving canvasses of light and colour. Light art sculpture and grand-scale projections are also lit up across the city, from the CBD to the suburbs.

The sight is truly impressive and one of the best ways to experience it is from the comfort of a luxury charter yacht. Indeed, the festival presents an ideal time to undertake a Sydney yacht charter with family on a yachting vacation or to wow and entertain clients and business partners on a corporate charter.

There are also plenty of reasons to step ashore; take the cutting-edge music programme, for example. Local and international acts perform across the city, and last year welcomed global acts such as Solange, Ice Cub and St Vincent. A similarly impressive line-up is expected for 2018.

An ‘Ideas’ programme also forms part of the festival. Celebrating innovation, creativity and community, it brings together business and creative leaders for professional development, industry updates and market opportunities.
