For the 73rd edition of the Venice International Film Festival, Alberto Barbera will once again be the expert director for this year's showcase of the best in foreign cinema.
Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world and actors, film directors and celebrities flock from around the world to the historic Palazzo del Cinema to watch and revel in the very best new international cinema.
Some of the best films in the world compete for the prestigious Golden Lion, and last year saw Lorenzo Vigas the lucky winner of the Golden Lion for Best Film with Desde Allá. The festival’s main aim is to raise awareness of the film industry and to promote both old and new international cinema and pay homage to major cinema talent.
Over recent years the main theatre, Sala Grande has been renovated and the large Sala Darsena screening theatre has been enlarged from 1299 to an impressive 1409 seats to meet the festivals ever expanding popularity.
