The 72nd edition of the Venice International Film Festival will continue to celebrate the best in foreign cinema, with expert direction coming from Alberto Barbera.
The oldest international film festival in the world, Venice Film Festival has achieved critical acclaim since it arrived on the scene in 1932. The festival continues to innovate by celebrating a wide selection of the best in new international cinema and is a prime choice by film-makers to premiere a new film.
The festival is rooted in a desire to raise awareness of the industry, and showcase all components of international cinema, as well as celebrate talent - both new or old. The recently-rennovated Sala Grande theatre plays host to the world-famous event, and the Sala Darsena screening theatre soon will seat 1409, increased from 1299 people.
