Newport, Rhode Island

25 - 27 Jul 2019

By Rebecca Bradbury

The Candy Store Cup will bring together a spectacular fleet of sailing yachts for three days of thrilling racing when it returns to Rhode Island, New England, in July 2019.

Hosted and organised by Newport Shipyard and Bannister’s Wharf, the Candy Store Cup continues the tradition of the Newport Bucket Regatta, which came to the end of its run in 2015.

The New England fixture prioritises sportsmanship and camaraderie above all else, but it also guarantees adrenaline-fuelled superyacht racing. Every day, a pursuit-style race takes place on Rhode Island Sound from 1pm, providing an unmissable spectacle for those watching from ashore.

Key vantage points are located along the shore of Narragansett Bay’s East Passage, south of the Pell Bridge. However, rather than watching from the sidelines, the racing meet is an ideal opportunity to be part of the exciting action as part of a regatta charter.

A variety of charter yachts can often be seen competing at the event and, at the previous edition, the award-winning 52m/169ft charter yacht METEOR sailed to victory in her class.

After the racing each day, there is always time for socialising. Expect events such as a welcome reception, post-race soirees and yacht hops, daily award ceremonies and a closing party on the final night.
