Tortola, BVI

CANCELLED (29 Mar - 4 Apr 2021)

By Katia Damborsky

The landmark 50th edition of the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival takes place from March 29 2021, and will attract sailing yachts and competent sailors from around the globe for five days of festivities.

With high-octane races and a lively social programme, the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival 2021 will celebrate off-shore sailing, the global yachting community and fifty years of racing around the blissful waters of the Virgin Islands.

The first two days will see sailing vessels set course from Tortola’s Nanny Cay Marina to participate in the Round Tortola Race and Scrub Island Invitational. Festivities will then culminate in the Spring Regatta on the third day.

The circuit

With the Caribbean’s signature Trade Winds, the sailing conditions for the regatta are usually ideal, and the blissful backdrop of the BVI’s only add to the attraction of the event.

However, the Spring Regatta is fast-paced and challenging, putting sailors through their paces as they navigate the waters testing both precision and accuracy.

As ever, a 100-strong fleet of boats is expected to be a part of the 2021 line-up.

Social events

Enlivening proceedings, there will be plenty of auxiliary parties and social occasions which highlight the island’s laid-back lifestyle and the Caribbean’s vibrant yachting community.

Placing heavy focus on camaraderie and a passion for sailing, the regatta is a must-do for serious off-shore sailors.
