Tortola, BVI

25 - 31 Mar 2019

By Rebecca Bradbury

Hundreds of sailors from around the world will gather in Tortola's Nanny Cay Marina on 25 March for the 2019 BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival.

One of the top regattas in the Caribbean, the BVI Spring Regatta forms part of a week-long sailing festival celebrating racing in the British Virgin Islands and it is now getting ready for its 48th edition.

The festival kicks off with three days of coastal racing and parties, followed by a Maritime Heritage Day at Nanny Cay. The week then culminates with the main event, the Spring Regatta.

Three days of non-stop, competitive racing action will take place in and around Sir Francis Drake Channel with racing divisions for one-design, bareboat and performance cruising yachts to name just a few.

New features include two marinas at the host venue so even more yachts can join in the action. There will also be the Scrub Island Invitational where, on 27 March, 50 yachts are expected to compete in a race from Nanny Cay Marina to Scrub Island.

Before, during and after the racing, the Regatta Village at Nanny Cay takes on a carnival-like atmosphere with food, drinks, games and live entertainment.

The BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival is an ideal time to rent a luxury yacht, whether it’s part of a regatta charter or a yachting vacation. For more information, speak to your preferred charter broker.
