Port Vauban, Antibes

23 - 26 Apr 2014

By Editorial Team

The Antibes Yacht Show 2014 is set to take place from the 24th – 27th April in Port Vauban and plans have been announced that will see it now open its doors to shipyards as well.

The event is the only spring yacht show in the Mediterranean and is an important fixture on the yachting calendar for industry professionals to showcase both yachts for sale and luxury yachts available for charter prior to the summer season.  The organisers have said that the dates may change to the 23th – 26th April to ‘accommodate the professionals and yachts’ during the build-up to the busiest season for Europe.

Following an increasing demand from shipyard’s wanting to take part in the show, the 2014 show will now allow shipyard’s to participate:  ‘There will not be a defined space for the shipyards in the first year, we will look at the sizes and the models of the yachts and try to put the large yachts together and the sporty and the sailing yachts’ said Muriel Pénoty, communications manager for the Antibes Yacht Show. ‘As much as this is possible, however, the brokers still want their yachts to be together and sometimes a broker also represents a shipyard, so then the shipyard will be next to the broker.’

Throughout the show a number of glamorous social events will be take place on board the yachts as well as seminars held by the International Superyacht Society. With developments taking place in other areas of the Mediterranean, including plans to significantly increase capacity for Monaco Yacht Show 2014, it is hoped that a development of Port Vauban will keep France up to date with providing space for more and larger yachts.

    About Antibes

Fragrant, flower-filled cobblestone streets sprawl out from the bustling central market place whilst enviable walled mansions are hidden amid dense pines, no wonder Picasso once called Antibes his home. Remaining one of the most enchanting and romantic old towns on the Côte d’Azur, its medieval towers, pastel hued houses and glorious beaches paint a captivating picture on the Mediterranean coastline.
