Flaunting her radical new look, YachtCharterFleet discovers why the iconic 73m (238ft) superyacht CORAL OCEAN is still turning heads.
Delivered in 1994 by the esteemed German shipyard Lürssen, CORAL OCEAN (formerly known as Coral Island) is arguably one of the defining masterpieces of the late and legendary yacht designer Jon Bannenberg. In 2022, the yacht received an impressive makeover that garnered her a special judges gong at the World Superyacht Awards 2023.
YachtCharterFleet recently had the pleasure of being hosted on board superyacht CORAL OCEAN across a number of prestigious events, where we were able to witness her spectacular metamorphosis for ourselves.
Boasting a wow factor in spades, from the moment you step on board it is clear why charter yacht CORAL OCEAN has been lauded with so much praise.
As part of her multi-million pound refit in Astilleros de Mallorca shipyard in Palma, her redesigned interiors – conceived by the esteemed London-based studio H2 Yacht Design – built on Bannenberg & Rowell’s original outfitting, following a further refresh in 2015.
The motor yacht's styling now offers a bright and airy scheme encompassing sumptuous furnishing and white reflective surfaces, with subtle coral motifs in blue and green accents adding a marine-inspired touch.
Proving no detail too small, a wealth of high-end designer brands have also been used for her luxury finishes, homewares and amenities throughout, including renowned design houses such as Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Lalique and Paola Lenti, to name a few.
One of the first rooms you enter is her main salon, housing one of her most prominent features; a six-meter wide shell door opening offering guests a beautiful over-water balcony, creating a harmonious connection to her outside.
There are also several sumptuous sofas and coffee tables, along with a separate lounge area on the port side featuring a recessed screen, perfect for keeping the kids entertained while you and your guests enjoy pre-dinner cocktails.
On this same level, adjacent to the main salon, you'll find a formal dining room with an exquisite table capable of seating 14 guests. This room also features two large wine storage cellars with capacity for over 200 vintages. Additional storage has been added to house a wide range of tableware and napkins – to ensure beautiful tablescapes to complement the Chef’s culinary masterpieces at every meal.
Further aft, a guest foyer connects all five decks; from her lower deck, where you’ll find a number of double guest cabins amidships, up to her dedicated owners deck, bridge deck and sun-kissed top deck.
Charterers are in for a treat with this beautifully appointed deck dedicated to the principal guests. Upon entry you are greeted by an elegant foyer adorned with a magnificent two-meter skylight flooding the area in shimmery turquoise light from the glass-bottomed pool on her sundeck.
This leads to a vast master stateroom, with a walk-in closet and his & hers ensuites featuring exquisite marble-clad showers and an infra-red sauna. Adjoining the suite is a beauty treatment room, where the yacht’s on-board beauty therapist can administer a range of heavenly treatments, such as Hydra facials, Lutronic LED light therapy, manicures and tinting, in your own private sanctuary.
On her bridge deck, there is a further generous VIP cabin that could easily double as a master stateroom, featuring a slew of luxurious amenities including a spacious en suite, integrated office space and media equipment.
For an extra special touch, this VIP cabin adjoins a private lounge and bar area, creating the option for a couple to live and entertain on their very own level, with access to a spacious outdoor deck area with additional seating.
The remainder of CORAL OCEAN’s accommodation is located on her lower deck, where you’ll find four luxurious king size suites, each with its own en suite.
One of these cabins can also be converted into Hollywood singles, providing a high degree of versatility for a variety of charter configurations.
Out on her main deck is a vast alfresco dining set up, incorporating a stunning Paolo Lenti center table for 12, with large aft sunpads either side cleverly converting into additional dining tables for 10 each.
This area also features two forward port and starboard full service bars providing the perfect accompaniment for aperitifs and chic cocktails, whether you’re dining with friends or as part of an exclusive shoreside event for a bevy of guests. To cap it off, there is also a pizza oven, teppanyaki grill and full-service kitchen for the ultimate Chef’s table experience.
Another thoughtful design feature here includes sliding glass panels and ceiling heaters that offer protection from the elements for a dual indoor-outdoor experience nonpareil.
One of the most impressive transformations is her sprawling sundeck, which has been entirely rebuilt to encompass a re-designed Four Seasons glass spa pool, with a wide adjustable parasol providing respite from the midday sun, alongside a huge bank of sunpads positioned to offer unparalleled views while guests top up their tans.
Sure to become the main social hub while on charter, this beautiful wide open space is encircled by glass balustrades offering protection from the elements, with unobstructed views across the water.
The area also benefits from a stunning glass-enclosed sky lounge, offering everything from a fully stocked bar, cabana-style seating, adjustable dining tables for informal meals and state-of-the-art sound system.
An in-ceiling retractable screen with an opening sunroof adds a final flourish, presenting guests with an open air cinema experience under the stars, as well as the perfect venue for day to night parties for groups big or small.
The yacht also provides ample opportunity to relax and unwind in her waterside beach club spa, equipped with a generous sauna and exquisite mosaic-tiled Hammam for the ultimate indulgence experience. Direct access to the ocean is afforded by an adjacent swim platform outside the transom door.
For those who are keen on staving off the pounds while at sea, yacht CORAL OCEAN also offers an indoor/outdoor gym set up equipped with an array of exercise gear, including a Peloton, Fitbench, treadmill and rowing machine, all positioned to allow guests to work up a sweat while enjoying stunning views across the water.
Of course, no yacht would be complete without a toy chest, and CORAL OCEAN is certainly no slouch in that department. Her extensive toy inventory includes Seabobs, e-foiling boards, fishing tackle and a huge raft of inflatables; from a huge water slide to a sea pool pontoon. She also comes with an 8-meter guest RIB and 12-meter Pardo chase tender for memorable day-long excursions away from the mothership.
Built with entertainment in mind, she offers a wealth of relaxation and social areas. Whether for an intimate family charter, cruising with friends or catering to larger groups and events, CORAL OCEAN offers an unparalleled experience of elegance, class and sophistication on the water.
