Guide to Phuket

A truly modern superyacht hotspot

From its scenic cruising grounds to its legendary nightlife scene, Phuket is the perfect playground for the superyacht set. As the largest of Thailand’s islands, it’s also one of the most exciting places to explore.

Affectionately known as ‘the Pearl of the Andaman’, Phuket has earned itself an enviable reputation thanks to its dramatic coastlines and natural beauty. As popular amongst sightseers as party goers, this is a destination which holds exotic beauty and hedonism in fine balance.

Arriving and disembarking along a breathtaking coastline, visitors to the island are treated to the very best of nature and nightlife. From the clubs in Patong which host the world’s biggest DJs to the bars of Soi Bangla and the chic beach clubs which line the shore, Phuket is most certainly a destination with a pulse.

As well as its thriving party scene, there’s also plenty of culture to absorb when out and about in Phuket. Home to a wealth of cultural heritage, Phuket Town is lined with ancient architecture built in the Sino-Portuguese style. Housing authentic restaurants, local artisan galleries, and a range of boutique stores, a stroll in this area of the island offers the perfect antidote to a night out on the own.

A short drive from Phuket Town, the green slopes of Kata offer the perfect environment for a hike amongst nature. Accompanied by monkeys and surrounded by rare forms of flora and fauna, even the most seasoned of travellers will find it hard not to be awestruck. After enjoying a spot of jungle trekking, visitors are perfectly situated to check out the iconic Big Buddha which is seated nearby.

Elsewhere on the island, Wat Chalong temple provides a rich insight into the history of Phuket. Regarded as the most important of Phuket’s 29 temples, a visit to this place of worship is overseen by traditional monks, making for a highly authentic experience.

Thanks to its close proximity to a series of similarly exciting islands, Phuket can be visited in conjunction with other hotspots in the Andaman Sea. Particular points of interest are Ko Kai (chicken island), Koh Phi Phi (the home of Maya Bay), and the Similan Islands (the home of world class diving).
