The top 15 Instagrammable places on the Amalfi Coast

By Richard Watkins   Last Updated: 14 January 2022

Add these Instagrammable spots to your Amalfi Coast yacht charter itinerary right now; these are the best places to take photos in Amalfi, Positano, Sorrento, Capri and beyond.

Not only is the Amalfi Coast one of the most beautiful spots in Italy, it's also one of the prettiest destinations in the Mediterranean.

From Sorrento to Positano, this stretch of coastline in the Campania region offers some of the best places for taking pictures for Instagram.

What's more, all of these top spots are easily accessible to you on a luxury yacht charter vacation. So get snapping and sharing to social media!

Here are our top recommendations for taking the best pictures on the Amalfi Coast:

Le Sirenuse, Positano

The Amalfi Coast has no shortage of 5-star hotels oozing style, sophistication and unmistakable Italian style.

While you are in Positano, stop by Le Sireneuse and head to the terrace for the perfect Instagram shot.  From here, expect breathtaking views over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the pastel-coloured buildings piled up the hillside.

Get your friends to take pictures of you posing on the balcony Kylie Jenner-style, or use the opportunity to snap some pictures from this excellent vantage point.

Duomo staircase, Amalfi

Amalfi is a destination filled with countless photo opportunities, but for the classic, unmistakable image of this historic town, the awe-inspiring Duomo is hard to beat.

Take your seat on the grand stone staircase leading up to the medieval cathedral, and start snapping.

The elegant striped marble facade of the church, with its fine arched windows and mosaics, will make an effortlessly stylish backdrop for your photos.

Sorrento Harbour, Sorrento

Sorrento's pretty harbour is, of course, the ideal place to take some pictures as part of your luxury yacht charter.

However, the marina is a charming little attraction in its own right, with brightly-coloured buildings hugging the water and sheer walls looming over the boats lined up in the harbour.

The marina sits adjacent to a little beach, so you can take a quick dip in the cool Mediterranean and let yourself be snapped against a backdrop of bright blue.

Faraglioni, Capri

Rising majestically out of the Tyrrhenian Sea off the southern tip of Capri, the three towering sea stacks known as the Faraglioni provide a dramatic backdrop for the perfect romantic photo.

Most attention goes to Faraglioni di Mezzo - the one in the middle - where the sea has carved a rounded arch big enough for boats to pass through.

According to local legend, if you and your sweetheart exchange a kiss as you sail through that archway, you will seal your love and be together forever. So be sure to take a few snaps to document the moment!

Spiaggia Grande, Positano

Positano is stunning from any angle, but for the ultimate view of this quintessential Amalfi Coast treasure, head to the Spiaggia Grande - the 'large beach' - and strike a pose.

With its iconic terraces of brightly painted houses rising up the cliffs as a backdrop, Positano presents a timeless, filmic beauty.

Stand on the shingle shore as the sun rises over the Mediterranean, recline on one of the loungers or step into the sea for that perfect shot.

Palazzo Avino, Ravello

The landscapes of the Amalfi Coast are just as spectacular inland, and the forested contours of the Lattari Mountains which run through Sorrentine Peninsula are breathtaking in their grandeur.

You won't need to stray too far from the coast to get some fantastic photos, though. Head to the Palazzo Avino, in the pretty medieval village of Ravello and stand on the terrace for the perfect mountain view.

Especially effective as the sun sets over the ridge of the mountains, it's easy to see why this is such a popular spot for wedding photos. And as a bonus, there are fantastic views out to sea, too.

Furore fjord, Amalfi

Halfway between Amalfi and Positano, the little village of Furore is less known than its more visited neighbours along the Sorrentine Peninsula, but is well worth a stop for its spectacular setting.

Furore is best approached by boat, via the 'fiordo' - in fact, a narrow coastal inlet known as a ria - which offers some unique and memorable views.

The inlet leads up to a beach, while high above, an arched stone bridge spans the narrow gap, another great vantage point for taking some amazing pictures of Furore. Every July, the bridge serves as the launching pad for the World High Dive Championships.

Il San Pietro di Positano

Just outside Positano, Il San Pietro di Positano is another luxury hotel you won't want to miss.

For the best pictures,  head out on to the terrace and snag a table overlooking the water. Strike a pose on one of the elegant couches against the unique figurative maiolica tiles.

Vietri sul Mare, near Salerno

Just outside Salerno, the pretty Amalfi Coast village of Vietri sul Mare is a photographer's dream, filled with vibrantly coloured houses and ceramics shops.

Vietri is often overlooked in favour of its better-known neighbours, so it's a great place to go if you want to take some unique and dazzling pictures recording your time in this mesmerising corner of Italy.

The little town centre is filled with picturesque buildings which make ideal backdrops for your photos, including brightly painted shops adorned with the multicoloured ceramic plates and tiles created by local artisans.

Da Paolino restaurant, Capri

A favourite dining spot on Capri for visiting celebrities, Da Paolino offers an unforgettable, and very photogenic, setting for the finest Mediterranean cuisine.

The tables are set out beneath a canopy of lemon trees, with an abundance of ripe fruit hanging down amongst the fresh green leaves.

It's especially atmospheric in the evenings, when the restaurant is lit by candles, creating the perfect time to take those winning photographs.

Atrani Beach, Amalfi

The little town of Atrani sits on the coast next to Amalfi but it is nowhere near as well-known as its more glamorous neighbour.

However, fewer visitors means more breathing space and more chances to take some great photos on the attractive and uncrowded beach.

Neatly laid out with bright beach umbrellas and loungers, and backed by an elegant arcade, pastel-hued houses and sheer white cliffs, it's the picture-perfect image of the Italian summer.

Africana Famous Club, near Positano

Founded in 1962, Africana, in the little town of Praiano, is the heart of the Amalfi Coast's stylish clubbing scene.

Located in a natural cave just 10m above sea level, Africana is a popular stopover with celebrities and yacht visitors, with a hedonistic atmosphere helped along with live music, dancing and free-flowing champagne.

It's great place to take those glamorous selfies as you get into party mood, with no end of photo opportunities as you mingle with musicians, dancers, DJs and A-list visitors.

The coastal fruit stalls, Amalfi

While travelling along the coastal roads linking the Amalfi towns, you'll soon come upon the famous fruit stalls, often situated at picturesque spots overlooking the Tyrhennian Sea.

Piled high with a bright and colourful selection of freshly-picked lemons, oranges, peaches, tomatoes and other local produce, they provide an ideal opportunity for some informal shots bursting with the flavours of Campania.

Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, Ravello

The Amalfi Coast is famous for its lovely Mediterranean gardens, regarded by many as amongst the most beautiful in the world, combining artistic, colourful landscaping with glorious sea views.

Ravello is home to two magnificent gardens which offer idyllic settings for your photos. The views over the Tyrrhenian Sea from the two-level terraced gardens at Villa Rufolo are breataking, with landscaped flower beds and a magnificent stone pine - said to be the most photographed tree in Italy - providing the backdrops for some amazing shots.

Strike a pose on the Terrace of Infinity at nearby Villa Cimbrone, with panoramic views over the Bay of Salerno behind you, or wander through the gardens and find your perfect shot among the grottoes, temples and flower-lined pathways.

Villa Lysis, Capri

Built in 1904 as a Mediterranean retreat for the French poet Jacques d'Adelswärd-Fersen, the lovely Villa Lysis is one of the most romantic locations on Capri.

The elegant art nouveau style palazzo offers plenty of photo opportunities, while in the garden you'll find one of the most spectacular views over the Gulf of Naples, watched over by the celebrated statue of the fisher-boy.

Also on Capri, the Villa San Michele, once home to the Swedish author Axel Munthe, is renowned for its gardens, which are dotted with numerous statues, including ancient Roman sculptures, a bronze statue of the god Hermes and an Egyptian sphinx gazing out to sea; a particularly dramatic vista worth capturing.
