As you approach the Corsican town of Calvi, you'll be drawn in by its impressive bastions clutching a sweep of ochre-topped buildings beneath the Mediterranean sun. Backed by a hazy mountainous horizon, the port town turned summer hot spot can be found on the north-east coast of Corsica - 20km west of L’Île Rousse  - and is well-known among the superyacht set for its beautiful crescent bay and fantastic stretch of beaches.

The town’s famous medieval citadel was built by the Genoese between the 13th and 16th Centuries, offering incredible panoramic views from its bastions and often host to music concerts. It is situated in the northern part of the town, towering over the harbour and it is within these walls that you can see Calvi’s history. Winding cobbled streets lead you into the passages of the old town and monuments such as the Cathedral of St Jean Baptiste and Palace of the Bishops of Sagone creating an interesting afternoon exploring Corsica’s past.

The promenade of the Quai Landry is where most of Calvi’s restaurants, bars and boutiques can be found, and behind this are the shaded cafes of Place Paoli and a covered market selling local produce. Calvi also sits on the edge of a UNESCO Marine World Heritage Site, so diving, snorkelling, and water sports are spectacular all over the island - giving you a great excuse to try out some water toys during your France luxury yacht charter. If you prefer adventures on land then take to a hillside walking trail up to the little chapel of Notre Dame de la Serra to take in spectacular views below of the town’s sweeping bay.

Begin discovering the enormous amount of possibilities on offer around this part of the Mediterranean by getting in touch with your preferred charter broker and taking a look at all of the crewed yachts for charter in Calvi.
