Cala Di Volpe Yacht Charter Guide
A slower pace of Costa Smeralda life with just as much luxury
Set in the heart of the Costa Smeralda, Cala Di Volpe holds all the glitz and glamour associated with this stretch of Sardinian coast but with a little more tranquility.
There is something of an old-world romantic feel about Cala Di Volpe. Located in Arzachena in north-east Sardinia, its fishing village roots are still displayed in its pastel coloured houses and classically Mediterranean port all set to a back backdrop of vistas of the mountains of Golfo Aranci and Isola Tavolara. Less developed than some of its Emerald Coast neighbours such as Porto Cervo, the town is known more for its beaches and laid-back luxury vibes.
It is however home to one of the most luxurious hotels in the area - its namesake, the Cala Di Volpe. The hotel was originally built as the Aga Khan’s private home and has since made appearances on the silver screen in 1977 James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me. As such, it attracts a who’s-who of the world’s A-listers and jetset travellers who are drawn to its elegant design, luxury facilities and positioning to explore the rest of the Costa Smerelda. The lunchtime, pool-side barbecue is especially popular for those disembarking their superyachts for a few hours ashore as part of a Mediterranan yacht charter itinerary.
The benefits of a charter itinerary on the Emerald Coast is that you are spoilt for choice with nearby destinations that are fully equipped for discerning travellers. To get to the heart of Sardinian life, make a visit to the mountaintop village of San Pantaleo and explore its markets full of local wine, honey, and baked goods, along with antiques and silk, cashmere, pottery, and leather designed by local artists. The regions wines are in fact becoming a popular export, and the Vigne Surrau wineries are one of the most up and coming vineyards in the area; so be sure to make a stop and sample the local grapes before the rest of the world finds out about it.
A stop-off in Cala Di Volpe is an opportunity to enjoy a slower pace of life, as well as the benefits of travelling by luxury yacht. There are a number of luxury charter yachts available in Sardinia throughout the year, so take a look at the full section to see which one is best for you and your party.
