Old Town of Rovinj in Istria, Croatia

8th July 2014

Described as one of the Mediterranean’s ‘last true fishing port’s’, Rovinj harbour is one of Istria’s star attractions, encompassing the charm and architectural beauty of Croatia’s coast.

Situated along Croatia’s idyllic Istria coastline and lapped by the crystalline Adriatic waters, Rovijn (Rovigno) welcomes visitors with its clusters of pastel-hued buildings that reach into the hillsides. Perched on top is a beautiful Venetian Church of St Euphemia, a 60m-high tower of which punctuates the peninsula and watches over the coastline.

Rovijn’s beautifully forested off-lying islands, each covered in lush green terrains and pine-fringed beaches are perfect for some peaceful exploration during a Croatia charter itinerary. Croatia itself continues to be the summer yachting destination of choice for many discerning charter clients for its spectacular combination of natural beauty, culture and contemporary cities.

It is also a very popular scuba diving destination and Rovinj’s own Baron Gautsch shipwreck is one of the most famous in the region. Many luxury charter yacht vacations in Croatia will include visits to world-renowned destinations such as Split and Dubrovnik as well as a range of smaller islands and with just 66 of the 1185 Croatian islands inhabited there are plenty just waiting to be discovered.
