Yachting Industry’s Cogs4Cancer Bike Ride raises more than €200,000

By Editorial Team   15 October 2014

On Friday the 10th October 2014, all 16 cyclists taking part in the Cogs4Cancer Ancona to Antibes sponsored ride made it over the finish line to raise more than €200,000 for a number of charities.

Yacht builders, brokers, designers and professionals from all areas of the yachting industry have got behind the Cogs4Cancer campaign over the past few months and even superstars such as Rihanna and Kings of Leon have shown their support. The sponsored cycle aimed to raise €100,000 with proceeds going to Cancer Research UK and local French charities – Lenval Children’s Cancer Unit, Nice and ISIS Tzanck Mougins, a target that was smashed early on and continues to bring in new donations.

A champagne reception sponsored by Freedom Maritime awaited the riders at the finish line followed by a party on the Saturday evening at The Royal Beach, Antibes featuring superstar DJ Shaun Hughes who cycled from Ibiza to take part. The fantastic organisation and hard work from all those involved in the Cogs4Cancer campaign  has both achieved huge success in raising money for a great cause as well as shown the community spirit of the yachting industry as a whole.
