Two decades reduced to ash in one night: popular beach bar burns down in Antigua

By Paloma Shemirani   3 October 2023

Cloggy’s has announced that last night on 2nd of October 2023, their restaurant burned down. Devastating footage has been released on their social media of the remains being devoured by flames that lit up the night sky.

Famed for its fresh food and stunning views out over Falmouth Harbour, Cloggy’s had been a firm favourite for Caribbean yacht charter parties since its opening nineteen years ago.

19 years went tonight up in flames… nobody got injured… we are down but will be back!”

While the cause of the fire is currently unknown, the restaurant confirmed on social media that nobody was injured. Cloggy’s is situated on the second floor of the Antigua Yacht Club Marina Building, but it is unclear as yet whether the fire has affected other parts of the building.

Fire still going today in Antigua Yacht Club's remains

Although remaining positive, fans of the lively restaurant were nonetheless deeply upset to learn of the fire: many expressed their condolences for hosts Vanessa and Ton and their dedicated team in the comments section of the announcement.

The Antigua Yacht Show will take place this year from the 4th-9th December, and the destination is still open for Antigua yacht charters.  While Cloggy's is currently closed, you can view the other venues that can be incorporated into your charter itinerary here
