As the final preparations gets underway for 2016’s Antigua Charter Yacht Show, which runs from 4th to 10th December, we round-up the top five largest superyachts in attendance.
Making her Antigua Charter Yacht Show debut, the 72m/236ft superyacht AXIOMA is a 2013 delivery from Turkish shipyard Dunya Yachts, and will be sure to wow show visitors with her Alberto Pinto interior, infinity swimming pool and long list of state-of-the-art amenities.
Boasting a beach house style theme, the interior spaces contrast natural woods, luxurious flourishes and bold accents of primary colours for a summery, light and relaxed feel. Highlights include a double height main salon with an open mezzanine, a 3D cinema and a spectacular Owner’s deck.
The bridge deck is dedicated to the health and wellbeing of guests, with a gym, massage room and steam room. Usually the domain of the lower deck, situating these facilities here afford guests energizing panoramic vistas as they work out and unwind.
Opportunities for relaxation continue on deck, where – in addition to the stunning main deck pool – there is a sundeck primed for daytime living, a private Owner’s terrace and a sophisticated alfresco dining area on the upper deck aft.
One of 2016’s most exciting additions to the charter market, the 73m/238ft superyacht ‘Coral Ocean’ will be one of the must-see yachts at the show, particularly as her interior from the highly acclaimed Jon Bannenberg has remained shrouded in much secrecy for more than two decades.
Launched in 1994 by Lurssen, she was only ever privately used for 22 years before joining the global charter fleet in July this year. Regularly maintained at the German yard’s refit facilities, her unrivalled safari-styled interior and chic exterior areas remain in immaculate condition.
At the time of her delivery, she was at the forefront of superyacht innovations, being one of the first yachts to boast dedicated gym and spa facilities, as well as a cutaway to starboard in the main salon, which creates a side balcony overlooking the ocean.
Impressing all those who stepped aboard at the Monaco Yacht Show earlier this year, she is expected to continue her impressive form in Antigua, showcasing her ample entertainment areas, unique layout, and extensive collection of Polynesian and African art.
Returning to the Antigua event after attending the 2014 addition is the 74m/241ft superyacht SIREN, built by German shipyard Nobiskrug in 2008. Embodying function over form, her focus on outdoor living blurs the boundaries between inside and out, and she is a fine yacht charter choice.
Her main deck aft serves as a place to sunbathe and lounge before transforming into a dance floor and her beach club features a settee, bar, massage room and gym area. Top features of her sundeck, meanwhile, include an open-air cinema setup, a bar and a spa pool with a waterfall backdrop.
Styled by Hamburg-based design firm Newcruise, the interior of the motor yacht takes on a calm, crisp and modern feel defined by oak floors, bleached maple walls, white furniture, warm artworks and clever lighting techniques.
Other memorable features include a folding helipad aft of the main deck, a drop-down balcony in the master suite’s study area, a guest study and library, and the capability of seating up to 22 guests at formal dinners in the separate dining salon.
Turning heads wherever she sails, the 88m/289ft superyacht ‘Maltese Falcon’ will be unmissable lined up in the Falmouth Harbour Marina. One of the most iconic yachts on the charter market, the boundary-breaking Perini Navi build is expected to be one of the stars of the show.
Look out for her revolutionary DynaRig mast, formed of three self-standing and rotating masts, which host 15 sails for a total sail area of 2,400 square metres. Yet, it is not just her cutting-edge technology and incredible sail performance that deserves attention.
Her upper deck Jacuzzi provides front row seats to an alfresco cinema, massages are possible after working out in the dedicated gym, a vast water toy collection offers hours of fun, and multiple lounging and dining areas are primed for both relaxation and entertainment.
The interior of the sailing yacht embodies its own distinction as Ken Freivokh designed the spaces around the Owner’s contemporary art collection, creating modern, masculine and spectacularly unique living areas.
Top of the list is the 90m/297ft superyacht NERO from Corsair Yachts, back for the third consecutive year and once again guaranteed to captivate all those who step aboard. Capturing the elegance of the 1920s and laced with modern amenities, she is in a class of her own.
Her midnight back hull, cream superstructure and yellow funnel ensures she stands out from the crowd, while her huge deck spaces, cosy hideaways and luxurious interiors continue to leave a lasting impression, and mean she is as suitable for family cruising as she is for hosting large events.
On the sundeck, charterers can unwind in her sundeck Jacuzzi before retreating to a cosy snug to escape the sun or enjoy an intimate gathering, while a 5.7-metre-long pool is available on the foredeck, and there are numerous places for dining, lounging and sunning.
Among the highlights of the classically styled interior aboard the classic yacht are a deluxe master apartment complete with a separate office, cinema lounge and private dining area.
