Zefiro, a new challenger to the NZ Millennium Cup, wins the first day after a fiercely-contested day of racing.

After initially being welcomed to Auckland by rain and a performance of the Haka, a briefing took place to empahise several points of the International Superyacht Rule, which the NZ Millennium Cup abides by.

Sea Toy was first off the line, closely followed by Zefiro, Janice of Wyoming, Silvertip and Ohana. A close and enthralling race followed, with all yachts putting up a fight and eager to cross the finish line first.

Alas, only one yacht can win, and it was Zefiro who was the star of the day, becoming the one to watch for the remainder of the regatta.
