Superyacht Gallery Judged A Roaring Success

By Oliver Pearson   6 June 2017

Taking place between 1st and 3rd June at the Saatchi Gallery in London, the team at YachtCharterFleet headed over to the Superyacht Gallery to find out more about the innovative experience on offer.

Opened by superyacht lawyer John Leonida, the Superyacht Gallery treated visitors to a wealth of artwork as well as insightful talks led by industry players from BenettiHeesen, Baglietto,  Lurssen and Edmiston. The legendary superyacht designers Espen Oeino and Andrew Winch were also on hand to offer their expertise last week.

Open to the general public as well as entertaining superyacht owners in a dedicated VIP lounge, the staging of the event in one of the world’s wealthiest cities was clearly the right choice.

Hosted in partnership with international law firm Clyde & Co, the event was designed to attract discerning visitors keen to get a closer look at the fascinating world of owning and chartering superyachts- a brief it more than exceeded.

Billed as an ‘experience-based visitor-focused event’, the Superyacht Gallery no doubt owes its triumphant success to the many surprises it had in store for those walking the exhibition spaces.

One of the most talked about experiences on offer was the 180-degree immersive experience pioneered by Breed Media and Jeff Brown. With large screens and speakers creating the illusion of being at sea, the installation transported guests to the surroundings of a luxury yacht.

With over three floors and seven galleries given over to displaying a superb collection of artwork, the Superyacht Gallery later auctioned pieces off to those keen to take away a piece of design history following the event.

An altogether new experience, the Superyacht Gallery provided a rare glimpse into the design and philosophy behind high end luxury living on the water

With a firm focus on interactivity running throughout the event, there was also the opportunity for guests to get involved with virtual painting with Lurssen, and get up close to a model of the 156m/512ft motor yacht DILBAR. With models of guests gathered on the helipad, it was possible to get a true sense of the scale of the current world’s largest yacht.

Ultimately, whilst many superyacht events promote the industry through the physical display of motor yachts and sailing yachts, the Superyacht Gallery promoted the industry by revealing more about the lifestyle which comes with ownership and charter.

Sure to have engaged potential superyacht buyers and charter guests, the programme managed to be both engaging and informative in equal measure. With this in mind, there can be no doubt about the success of the event.
