It has been announced that the MYBA Charter Show, due to be held at Marina Port Vell in Barcelona in April, has been cancelled due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Set to take place from 26 April to 29 April, the event is organized by MYBA - the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association.
This industry-only event provides an opportunity for brokers to tour some of the finest members of the yacht charter fleet, and gather first-hand information on behalf of their clients.
The show also gives brokers the opportunity to meet with captains and crew, and attend informative events designed to facilitate networking and connecting with fellow attendees.
This is the second successive year the show has been canceled. The planned event in 2020 was also canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
"We know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today."
As part of an official statement, the MBYA said: "We are very disappointed that we will be unable to hold this event which provides exceptional networking opportunities, showcases our industry's finest and generates solid business but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today."
"The show must go on" is in our DNA"
The MBYA has highlighted that they were looking for alternative ways to engage with the superyacht community in place of the in-person event, adding that "The show must go on" is in our DNA and even if that is not set to happen this year in the way that we intended, we are certain that we can tap into new avenues that will help our valued Members and Show stakeholders to mitigate the level of disruption to business."
The Association stated that they would be sharing details about these plans within the coming weeks.
