MIPIM 2017 Opens its Doors in Cannes

By Rebecca Bradbury   14 March 2017

MIPIM 2017, the world’s leading property market, gets underway in Cannes today, welcoming 23,000 visitors and more than 2,600 exhibiting companies to the French Riviera.

Hosted by Reed MIDEM, MIPIM is a four-day real estate exhibition, conference and networking event, bringing the most influential property players to the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.

Also on the scene is an impressive fleet of charter yachts lined up along the Jetee Edouard Albert in the Old Port of Cannes, preparing to be the setting of many a corporate function, business meeting and after-hours party.

Now underway, the 2017 edition focuses on the ‘New Deal for Real Estate’, setting the tone for those key global challenges, such as technology, geopolitical instability and societal changes, that will impact the real estate sector for the coming years.

More than 400 speakers from more than 35 countries are lined up for the extensive conference programme, with today’s opening ceremony setting the tone for what’s to follow.

There is also a dedicated programme of 150 networking events, an exhibition and demo zone, and workshops and other learning opportunities. Plus, 2017 will see the 26th edition of the MIPIM Awards, which honour outstanding real estate projects from across the world.

A tradition of the event is for exhibiting companies to charter a luxury yacht, and utilize the vessel as a hospitality suite to impress, entertain and attract clients. Indeed, the luxury offered by a charter yacht provides the perfect setting for securing deals and doing business.

Attendees at the show will certainly be wowed by the superyachts lined up opposite the exhibition centre resplendent in the branding of the show exhibitors.

MIPIM will run in the French Riviera until Friday 17th March and is expected to see the exchange of more than 1000,000 business cards per day and 22,300 tweets from the show.
